How to Open a Candy Store – A Step-By-Step Guide

Learning about how to start a candy business has never been simpler. Look at our guide below for an idea of what it takes to open a candy shop.

An Initial Inquiry

All it takes to get started on your journey is one simple visit to our franchise website. There, you’ll be able to fill out a brief form that will be forwarded directly to our team. We’d love to hear about your background, your goals, and what interested you in joining the River Street Sweets® franchise family. Submit your responses, and voila! You’re officially off to a great start!

Dialogue for Sweet Success

After reviewing your inquiry form, we’ll open up a dialogue with you. During this part of the process, we invite you to ask any further questions you may have about our company, stores, products, and processes. We’re happy to help guide you during this stage and answer any questions you may have. This is an important part of the onboarding procedure for you, as we are able to give you a more detailed preview of what awaits you as a franchisee, as well as help you more clearly envision the potential of starting a candy business.

Fine Details, Disclosures, and Beyond

If everyone feels comfortable and you meet the criteria, we will then move into the nitty gritty of document review. During the qualification and disclosure process, you will be provided with a FDD (Franchise Disclosure Document) to review. A crucial document, the FDD contains vital information about the franchise opportunity that you will need to review and acknowledge carefully. Take your time with this step and don’t rush; read through the terms, become familiar with the details, and ask questions as necessary.

Meeting The Team Behind The Treats

After all the necessary documents have been reviewed, the excitement truly begins to ramp up. Your next big step is to meet face-to-face with our leadership team and get to know some of our most key players. Our emphasis on building individual relationships with prospective franchisees is paramount to what we do; trust works both ways, and franchising is a model that requires confidence in every link of the chain. We want to get to know you and for you to get to know us, so don’t be shy! We can’t wait to hear your story and why you decided to start a candy business.

Making Things Official

At long last, it’s time to put it all down on paper. Contract signing is an exciting step that results in your long-awaited addition to our franchise family. Again, this is a very important step; make sure you consult with your entire team and ensure that everyone’s on the same page before taking the plunge. This legally binding agreement makes things official for all parties involved, so prepare accordingly– and don’t forget to celebrate afterward!

Hands-On Treat Training

Now the fun really begins, as you take a trip out to our flagship store in beautiful Savannah, GA to get more familiar with our team, machines, products and processes. Going further, you can expect to be advised on business practices and learn the essentials about daily operations, suppliers, ordering and more. This is when you’ll develop helpful muscle memory by doing things yourself, rather than simply watching or reading about how it’s done. After finishing our intensive 3-week training course, you’ll be headed home feeling sufficiently equipped to operate your store and keep things running smoothly day after day.
