CHARLESTON, SC – River Street Sweets®, one of Entrepreneur’s top New Franchises in 2020, welcomed new franchisees, Pradeep and Caroline Raman, to its candy family at the grand opening of the newest franchise location on King Street in Charleston, SC. “When we decided to pursue a franchise, we were drawn to River Street Sweets for its charm, quality, and the joy it brings to every visitor. Growing up in Savannah, I have fond childhood memories of visiting River Street Sweets. The sweet aroma and charming waterfront made every trip unforgettable” said Caroline. The grand opening for the King Street store was held on Wednesday, Feb 11th with a ribbon cutting, free samples, a giveaway for Free Candy for a year, and a special visit from Cool Ray, beloved mascot of the Charleston Stingrays!
Pradeep added “The hometown feel of Savannah’s original candy store and the down-home goodness of the people and the guest service centric culture made a partnership with River Street Sweets a natural fit for us. I came to Savannah from India to attend Armstrong State College (formerly) and it feels like a full circle moment to be associated with Savannah’s original candy store!”
The Ramans and the Strickland family are thrilled the sweet shop will be in the historic Charleston downtown and so close to the flagship store in Savannah. “As a Charleston resident, being one of the few locally owned stores on King Street makes this opening especially meaningful to me,” Caroline continued.
River Street Sweets is located at 351 King Street and will feature the same Southern confections that guests have come to love since the flagship store opened in 1973 in Savannah: World Famous Pralines®, handmade Chocolate Bear Claws®, Creamy fudge and Homemade ice cream just to name a few.
Friends, fellow members of the Charleston Chamber and the Strickland family were on hand to help officially welcome River Street Sweets to visitors and shoppers on King Street at the grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration.
